There are two ways of applying WD40 on your chain, on a rag or spray it on.
Me? I prefer on the rag.
Remove all the WD40 on the chain so the chain lube or chain wax will stick permanently.
Just get all the old lube off the chain (black stuff).
You don't have to spray the lube all over the chain, concentrate only on the middle part and on the rollers (metal to metal contact surfaces).
Wipe off the excess lube on the sides of the chain links so you don't have excess lube or wax flying all over the bike.
Make sure the lower and upper chain sliding shoe is clean.
Correction! Lube your chain every 600 miles or less (1000km)
Allow chain lube or chain wax to set for 12 to 15 min. before you ride your bike.

Great video!! Keep 'em comin'!! And good for you for not stooping to jgriff's level on his comment. He's just jealous of your bikes!! Nothin' wrong with taking care of your bikes after riding them. Well done!

blimey no wonder your duc chain is so clean you never ride, i have a 1098s and done 8000 miles in a year, dont you get chain lube on your rear wheel cos it looks like you put too much lube on, are you the kind that likes to look at a bike or ride it? that bike is wasted on you x

Great attention to detail. Thanks for the vid, i'm just about to put my Tricolore away for winter..should i lube anything else..such as metal parts that may rust. Bike is on stands, tarped and in the gargae.
Kordage 3 months ago
@Kordage. You don't have to lube anyting else. Stands are good, just make sure temperature not below 70 degrees. Temperature is the key factor in storing your bike, If no heater and you have concrete flooring put some insulation underneath the bike coz you can get a lot of moisture from the floor rather than the side wall. If you have an Automatic garage door and not insulated move it far from the door. Charge your battery once or twice a week. Check right voltage before you start your bike.

Thats one clean chain. I was wondering about the WD40, wouldn't it penatrate past the o rings and get into the sealed part of the chain cos its made to penatrate and lube? Did a bike shop say you can use it to clean chains or have just always used it? looks like it does a good easy job of it. If its a safe chain cleaner i might use it myself, any feed back would be great. cheers

@MrBikeboy600. This is what I use in my shop, been using it for many years and it makes cleaning easier. I dont use a grunge brush as you can see Lol...
I clean my chain every 400 miles that's why you see the chain very clean. Manual says most bikes is 600 miles, I clean it before that. Regarding if the WD40 would penetate? It won't.
