The Steamboat Arabia Museum could be drifting away from its Kansas City port.
The museum, which opened in the River Market in 1991, is looking for a larger space. It houses 25,000 square feet of artifacts from the ship that sank in 1856.
The owners said a larger space would allow them to expand the exhibits.
"If we had 50,000 feet, we could get the prefab houses out, 5,000 boots and shoes," the museum's Greg Hawley said. "This cargo tells that story of people who sought a better life and were willing to work to achieve that."
Parkville, Weston and Leavenworth have all expressed an interest in the collection.
