Hi, I didn't really grasp the significants of the relationship between the complex number domain and the periodic functions(trig.), but now realize that the Smith Chart represents a 180 degree clockwise rotation on the chart as the result of the complex reciprical form of 1/i or 1/j,
because the relationship between the complex freq domain and a periodic signal is given by
cos wt = e^(jwt) + e^(-jwt)/ 2
sin wt = e^(jwt) - e^(-jwt)/ 2j.
