To seriouslyWeird: I know what you mean, but I think the point Jesus was making is that "discovering" him (and the kingdom of heaven) is like finding a treasure that you would never want to give up, something you'd be willing to sell everything else for.
I think Jesus was saying that he bought that field, which is the world, cause the treasure is hidden in that field.
