"Today Was a Fairytale" is a country pop song by American singer Taylor Swift, released as a promotional single from the Valentine's Day soundtrack. Lyrically, the song speaks of a romance using a fairy tale metaphor, much like her previous single "Love Story." The song was released digitally on iTunes on January 19, 2010. The song is scheduled to be released physically in the United Kingdom on February 8th. Swift will perform "Today Was a Fairytale" at the 2010 Grammy Awards.The song sold 325,000 downloads, breaking the record for best first-week download sales by a female artist previously held by the Britney Spears track "Womanizer" which sold 286,000 in its first week.
