Bumrapp7, yeah, that would be great! You know, back in the day, there were neighborhods where the average people just couldh't go. There were tough guys ready to deal with anyone from the outside. But, if you sang, and if you were looking for someone from that neighborhood who could sing, it was like you got the key to the city in a way. Good singers got carte blanche, so to speak. Everyone liked them.

@Walt1124 Greetings Walt you almost seem to be "singing my life" talking about street corner harmonizing,I'm very thankful for those wonderful moments and pray that we will recapture that kind of love and kindness.This kind of music has the potential of making that happen.

This group has but two recording members of The Spaniels - Willie C Jackson who does the spoken introduction - and Billy Shelton. the other 3 gentlemen are not "original" Spaniels from either the first Spaniels group or the second (both of which were anchored by Pookie Hudson (lead) and Gerald Gregory (bass).

I was with a young, amateur group back in Detroit and this was our signature song. Hearing it brings back lots of memories, from standing on corners, in parking lots, laundromats and wherever we could get the sound we wanted. The girls would listen and swoon. Even the cops would pause and listen, then tell us we had to move along. Owners of pizza shops would give us a slice, too. Those were great days for those who came along years afterwards and missed out.

Great group, great song. One of my all-time favorites. I hung around with a group in '59 in the Air Force. They did this Spaniels tune all the time. It was great. The lead was Danny Cappazolla from Pittsburgh. They were either the Corvairs or Corsairs. I used to practice with them but I couldn't sing.
