Home educated children read at a much higher level than most public schooled kids.As for socialization how many public school kids volunteer as more or more than home educated kids? Wanna know real life? Volunteer in a nursing home or homeless shelter, Want to understand math, science and english better? Study Greek and Latin first, something that is not studied in public schools as it is in home education programs.

why can't there be a flexible system in the public system that allows for transfer between homeschool to private school to public school to a charter school to online school? I'm working in education reform, and I believe that if we examine the entire system and really study how children develop and try to infuse that with the pros of every ideology of schooling, and ultimately give CHOICE back to the CHILD, we will have fixed the education system.

public schools dont perpair for the real world because your in a class all day lisining to mostly garbeg that thay tell you to remember

There are a lot more kids failing to be educated adequately at school then there are failing to be educated at home. Parents should not be forced to send their kids to inadequate schools.

The fact that there are parents that can adequately home school their kids misses the point. What do you do about parents that cant? That Minnesota kid that refused chemotherapy was home schooled and he couldnt even read. If parents are worried that public school education isnt adequate enough then they can put in some extra time with their kids after school. Parents should not be given the opportunity to be able to completely cut off their kids from the outside world.

Furthermore, the purpose of school is education, which is inadequate in public, and to a lesser extent, private schools. So homeschoolers get adequate socialization and a very good education, public schoolers get a ton of socialization and a sub-par education.

I never said they get as much socialization as they would in a normal school. They do get enough to not be socially awkward though, which is all that matters for later in life.

I was once a part of a homeschooled group and they do not compete with the amount of socialization in school!!
Furthermore, I attended public schools and found myself no more prepared for "the REAL world" than the next guy. If anything my kids are better prepared because they are already living in the "REAL" world everyday instead of being locked up in a building with other kids all day. Just because the Gov. has decided that the only & best way children can & should learn is in a classroom all day doesn't mean it's right. The public school didn't teach you how to walk and talk did they? Think about it.

This is a perfect example of the public school system brain washing children. Guess what, "Not all" homeschoolers abuse their kids. Hello!!! There are public school kids harmed by their parents too.
