This is an awesome speech and a beautiul vision but kinda weird with Chaplin appearing as Hitler. So its message has an underlying irony and a subtle warning.......Our passions, even while pursuing an idealistic goal.....aka in this case a passion for "Democracy"-- must be carefully monitored and guided with a strong rein....lest our goals and passioned be undermined or exploited by the unscrupulous or otherwise perverted. ......That being said, the wisdom of the words is profound.

This is a nice video until the very end. I don't agree with Chaplin that "science and progress" will unite us all or save us all from ourselves. Science has brought us mustard gas and DDT, dynamite and nuclear fusion, Agent Orange and cluster bombs. The list goes on and on. We have never shown ourselves to be a species capable of using scientific and technological advances only in the service of preserving and nurturing life. Cain's stone is now a nuclear bomb.
