This is the story of Honor Flight Chicago and its mission to honor WWII Veterans with a celebratory trip to their Memorial in Washington, D.C. Their trip is free, thanks to support from grateful citizens. Find out how you can help at honorflightchicago.org. We thank narrator, Gary Sinise and, of course, Bob Dole and Tom Hanks. Special thanks to Sticky and i3ypermedia for video creation and production.

  • I learned of this today in honor of a WAVE who passed. Her family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers. What a generous tribute.

  • Goose bumps, goose bumps!

    Bless 'em all!

  • I am a graduate student in chicago putting together a compilation of stories from Veterans from WWII. I am looking to interview anyone who has a story from WWII. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with our highly regarded Veterans. Interviewing them would be such an honor. I believe that personal stories are such an important part of history. If you know someone who I can interview, you can contact me at : swimtori82@yahoo.com I can do over the phone or in person interviews.

  • My grandfather is a veteran from WWII and with his Honor Flight got to visit his Memorial in Washington, D.C.

It was a great day for him, I'm glad he had this opportunity.

I love him with all my heart and seeing these videos just make me miss him so much, I live just to far from him.

  • That's such a beautiful way to honor those veterans.

  • Thats really great what their doing, those guys really appreciate it. just over 2 million American WWII veterans are alive today and I really hope many more will be able to go,its estimated that by 2021 there will be only 158,000 U.S. WWII veterans alive unfortunatley. To me meeting a WWII veteran is great than meeting any celebrity!!!

  • I had my old buddy Frank Bock signed up for the Honor Flight. He was 82 years old. He very much wanted to go on this flight. He couldn't wait to go. He had just received his WWII medals from Ilinois Gov. Quinn. Frank didn't make it. He passed away before we could go. I guess he'll just be seeing it from another angle now. It's not too late to send these brave men on an Honor Flight. Please donate or volunteer. Be seeing you later Frank. God Bless you my friend

  • Just a tear jerking video.

Being a veteran of the Army Air Corp in WW , I went on the trip with Central Illinois veterans from Effingham,IL

    Thank the Honor Flight sponsors.
