Police responded excellently during the Olympics. They kept order without any undue violence. I even saw a police officer get spit on and stay calm and collected, let's see you all do that. Overall, very professional conduct all around.

@bgd360 Well... From what I've gathered, it seems they were more concerned about the frivolous expenses of the olympic games in the face of a variety of rather prevalent social issues in that very city. That seems to have been the primary message. But there were a lot of other groups, pushing divergent messages, and unfortunately there seems to have been a fairly large violent protest element among them. The overall message did get drowned out almost completely.

Why did the protestors pack it in so easily? God, in the many years leading up to 2010 all these different groups were gonna "shut the games down". I just don't get it other than there just a bunch of simpering pussies.
