Railroad Tycoon and SimCity... two classic, different forms of gaming. What if you meshed them together? Why, it's already been done! Take the A-Train in this review of:

A-Train by Maxis for MS-DOS / Amiga computers

Apologies for the prior upload with serious rendering errors, which resulted in what appeared to be a review on seriously bad drugs.

The first upload of this looked entirely like a "game review on drugs", due to an encoding error. So as a reference to that, I included it in the intro. Yeah, I had no idea what I was doing back then, ha.

What I think when I start watching you videos "I'm jelly you have a good computer and sims 3 and loads of computer games....but he also is stuck with bad computer games" I also like when you say bad stuff about games or is it just me, anyhow your a great youtuber.

Like you I always wanted this seeing it in the catalogs and an interview with Will Wright where he talks about this game pretty much derailing production on SimCity 2 because it looked and played so great they basically had to start over on the SimCity sequel. I never did pick this one up though.

Looks kinda like Transport Tycoon, except it's only Trains and the player has more control over city development.

If you're even slightly think you could be interested in such a game I recommend you try Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, short OTTD. It's the same principle, but much bigger (giant community) and much more pretty :-)

I know I'm responding to an old comment but, when I cook eggs, I don't use butter, or grease. I'm not from the south.

the problem with us playing it(in europe as a kid) was that while it's sort of complex on the surface, it really isn't. the circle city reminds me of some of our cities.

I think though what "broke" the game for us was the stocks system. they went up and down with precision, so fastest way to get money was to play the stock market.

all and all very boring if you compare it to either railroad tycoon, transport tycoon or simcity 2000.
