tweeking gear ratios, or changing a transmission is easy? i don't know what reality you're living in, but that is a pretty ridiculous thing to say. maybe in video games thats simple to do, but in the real world that involves a lot of custom made parts and fabrication.

  • cool seeing a lotus at the dragstrip... but everybody knows that it really shines on the circuit.

  • @TheCorollaXRS How fast is the 823 whp version? If it has a higher top speed, I wonder how stable it is at that speed.

I knew a guy who fitted a Focus with the engine from a Subaru Impreza. He upgraded the brakes and suspension to cope, but when he took it on a track day the tyres burst, the gearbox broke and it kept overheating. So I'd always be nervous about driving a car that hadn't been tuned by professionals.

  • @NobleM15fan

Lifespan of the engine will surely go down, but atleast if you have 400 hp you know that you are still far from the limit. I think they are still trying to get more than 823whp, they are still very curious where that limit is. So stay tuned.

Also, take a look at this on youtube "Lotus Exige Ronin Compound Charger" and check all the videos of the poster 'roninexige' . This Lotus (2zz-ge) has supercharger and turbo at the same time.

  • @TheCorollaXRS I looked it up - it was incredible. THe only worry I'd have is that essentially you have to trade power for life. So I wonder what would happen if you maxed that car - could the chassis take all that power? And could the drive shaft and other components deal with it.

This 400 horsepower one seems OK though.

  • @NobleM15fan

Go to google.com then type "2ZZ-GE Power Record - 823whp" then it should get you to a link of where a 1.8L is making 823whp ... that's more or less 1000hp at the crank. Yes, from a 1.8L 2zz-ge .. also known as a Corolla engine.

  • @NobleM15fan the ff400 is a stroked 2zz

  • @kukinney My mistake. I didn't think you could get 400 HP from a 1.8 (or this might be one of the older 2.2 ones) without serious turbo lag.

  • @NobleM15fan its a four cylinder. you cant twin turbo it. and plus the title says turbo not supercharged.

  • Wow.. doesnt take much power to get that thing moving

  • @b1iuzw39 haha probably about the same... lightweight has its flaws... traction can be a bitch even for a RWD car

  • That's quick! Did you give it twin turbos, or a supercharger?
