I have a copy of Power Golf 2 for the Duo, also have the pc engine mouse, actually a really good game.

nope, plays just fine with the pad, its a japanese import though, not sure if there was a US version, I play it alot though, the japanese text doesnt get in the way at all

Did any kid ever go out and actively buy a Gold game for their console?

To me they always seemed like the game your Dad would buy.
