Shanghai - Chinese New Year

Fireworks from my blacony right around midnight on Lunar New Year, 2006. This was taken with my camera phone so the quality is not so hot.

It was pretty crazy. Basically every single city block had about 3 different groups of fireworks going off, and normal people can purchase these high-end type of pyrotechnic displays so everyone and their uncle is setting them off at once and all hell breaks loose.

It's so dangerous ... they set them off over traffic, in the middle of the street, next to apartment buildings, next to the gas station ... there was one right next to my building and the sparks would hit our outside walls.
