@jpeiler1997 It also originated from the other football. Its just that during that ime the us was soemwhat isoloated from the rest of the world. So americans didnt keep up with how the sport was really evolving and created the game a different way than the rest of the world.

The reason it's called football is because yards and feet are america's unit of length measurment, which is used frequently in the game. You can't criticise us for calling it Football. And there are reasons we wear armor like that. People have almost broke their neck and spine while playing even with gear on. The reason Rugby players get less injured is probably because they stay more together in the game. American Football believe it or not is strategic. No it is not just running and falling.
