37s are very prone to fluctuating power surges on pulling away. You should nurse them gently really and the more heavy handing you are the less they like it. On the morning of the last Weymouth we had problems which seemed to sort themselves out on route as i said. Track or railhead contamination as you suggested were not factors on this occasion.

oil or fuel dripping on the track causing the wheelslip?

Variety being the spice of life as they say. Yes it's mostly GMs. I was on the Class 40 from Westbury to Plymouth a few months back. That was good fun too.

Yes i'm at Westbury. 21 years and 3 at Salisbury as a secondman. I'll try and remember to let you know which mag as i've only sent them off today.

Only some experience under your belt then! Must be good to do these kind of workings compared to the usual diet of GM machines.

Multiple wasn't working as it should have done so cables were switched at Weymouth and southbound we were ok from Bradford on Avon onwards.
