As in the router video Joe M. is demonstrating how my Ripping Jig works so I can record the process, Our Sills were milled on 6" boards but had to be ripped down to 2" Sills.

  • Jig made 2 sills at a time...We were out of town and (The idiot in charge) forgot the table saw, clamps and a lot of other things. So, I had to come up with ideas to make things work ... He didn't appreciate it but I saved his Butt! The crew was very pleased with all my ideas... The customer was impressed and they let the the Boss know his leadership choice was poorly made (He didn't care either, he was just in it for the pay!)

  • Here are a couple of notes on the ripping jig. I actually made it backwards because Joe was sliding the saw on our finished piece and it fell to the floor when it was cut. We should have measured it to be cutting off the excess.

You couldn't see it but there was a small stop block in the end of the jig to stop the piece from sliding.

  • even the guide you can buy to go on a circular saw can be handy. when I was doing countertops. I would rip the back splash 4" and the front edge people from a 30" wide boards and with that little guide, it came out perfect. I didn't even bother with saw horses, I just leave it on the ground and slide a 2x4 or something under the edge to be ripped. I also made a big "speed square" type of thing to make perfect cross cuts of the 3/4 board.

Thanks for posting the vids, they are very interesting!

  • Nice jig.
