A drugged-out customer comes to the counter to try to persuade me (the pharmacist) to give him more lucrative brand name CNS depressants (Clonazepam). The story is based on the true-life experience and the words that were exchanged.
When they want brand name they are almost always reselling the drugs. They want brand name Xanex 2mg instead of generic because most generics aren't bar shaped tablets and on the street Xanex are sold as "Bars." Klonopin are K-pops, etc. The druggies won't buy if the pills don't "look right."
Wow I didn't realize doctors made this many mistakes. I want to be a dentist but i already have a MS in Chemistry so i have a diff understanding of chemicals. I always wondered how someone with a BA could learn enough in just two years of med school to prescribe medication correctly, lol.
@girlcirca83 It's not that they aren't "allowed to" but for this situation: people who request name brand control drugs (narcotics) and are willing to pay cash *Translates* to they got the generic with insurance (Or free with Medicaid) somewhere else. So they are double dipping by going between stores (which is beyond shady) and its usually two different doctors prescribing the same med. That's a major "No-no". This situation is the most typical and the most irritating.
You portray the patient who requests brand name to be some kind of moron. Were you aware that this substitution is legal in 94% of the US? Your state is one of the very few that force people to buy generic.
If a patient is willing to pay more for brand name medication, shouldn't they be allowed to do so? If you were the patient, wouldn't you want it to be your choice?
@keliciousify It involves a keyboard, and actual sentence construction... >_>
