Thank you but let me tell you I don't flatter myself at all. You are missing the point with the "too bad nobody knows you at all" comment. I just think that JMJ is a lousy Theremin player that's all. It's no big deal, really. He used to excel at other things and I am willing to give him all the credit in the world for that.

JMJ can use anything, just like any other composer, 4 his music. But he's NOT a thereminist. He uses theremin for creating certain sound effects, but he doesn't have the technique or the skills to perform a real theremin work. That's fine for me as long as he doesn't consider himself as a thereminist. If he does, it'd be disrespectful, just like calling Ornette Coleman a violinist only 'cos he uses it in his gigs.

For good theremin stuff, check: Clara Rockmore, Peter Pringle or Carolina Eyck.

I wonder why this instrument never became more popular. I think JMJ desrves credit for his Theremin skill,s I have heard Ms. Kavina and she is excellent but different types of sounds all together, Kavina is on the classical end Jarre's sound is spacey in a good way.

My point is that there are significantly better Theremin performers. And like I said before, I used to admire him a lot and own most of his CDs.

Good for you that you adore his music. As for the "who are you anyway" comment, well you are not more entitled than me to have and express an opinion, since you belong to the "who are you anyway" community.

I'm not a player, i can't play anything, but i'm JMJ's fan and person interested in el-music.

I only wanted to say, to people who maybe don't know it, that the theremine can be played with the same precision like any other instrument. Type into YT search "theremine lesson" or generally "theremine" and look what people can do with it.

What about JMJ? He is generaly poor performer, generaly uses PB most of time (but last time we can see improvement) For his fans he is a composer, first of all.

he played much better than this in Helsinki last saturday. here he seems to wander around until he decided it's time to play to the "original" sound. so what? A lot of sounds are preset. So? He still manages to make me "stare" at the music in awe, live or not. what about you? who are you anyway?
