After meeting an influential agent(in real life, Ben Lyon), who arranges a screen test for Norma Jean, who then has cosmetic enhancements to alter her appearance. She also adopts the name of Marilyn Monroe. Contrary to belief, her name is not taken from the American president, it's actually her mother's maiden name.

Ashley Judd should have been Marilyn, and Mira Sorvino should have been Norma Jean.

@SpiritSeekras yeh..Fame didnt make her happy at all. She craved love and acceptance all her life. She had an awful childhood, her mother was mentally ill, her father denied her. It troubled her all her life. So her need for fame was driven by that need to be loved. She was by fans as Marilyn Monroe, but its so sad as Norma jeane she died alone. She really was an underated actress, and people only saw the so called "ditzy blonde". She was very smart and intelligent women. a genius comedienne.

The only thing Mira's got going for her is the blonde hair also she did a good job at speaking in the same soft sultry breathy way Marilyn did

They should do another Marilyn film today with Scarlett Johansen, Gwen Stefani, or Charleze Theron as Marilyn and with a much better script. Why the hell is Marilyn being haunted by Norma Jean? True Norma Jean was the person and Marilyn was the image, but can we ge a real biography script please...and not this Dissociative Identity Disorder bull shit!

@jutafrocant No she is killing Norma Jean, her old self and becoming Marilyn Monroe. It's symbolic of her transformation from a young unwanted abused girl into one of the most beautiful, popular, and glamorous of stars.
