Kalymnos Easter Customs and Traditions - The burning of "Judas' Replica, Easter Sunday noon, 24/04/2011. The hanging and burning of the "Judas" Replica, symbolizes the punishment of Judas for his betrayal to Jesus. It's a tradition that has been going on for generations, and takes place on Easter Sunday noon. Over the years, it was given a second meaning, the people's symbolic punishment, for social events that had a great impact, on the Greek people. In most cases, the "theme" changes, from year to year, and always depending, on any significant event, that brought social turmoil.
