Maggie Smith was in the play 'Hay Fever' with Dame Edith. "Between shows on matinée days, Maggie would play a favourite record, 'Baby Love', by the Supremes, at full blast so that the Dame could not sleep and would be too tired to cause trouble in the evening performance" - 'From Maggie Smith: A Bright Particular Star" by Michael Convey.

Have a very happy birthday, Dame Maggie! :D

  • I absolutely love this video, such a fitting birthday present! The best of its type I've seen and such an array of clips from her entire career! Btw, could you tell me please, where did you get her Oscars ceremony in 2002 appearance from?

  • @Cas1939 Wow. What a fantastic compliment. Thank you!!! :D I don't remember where I got her 2002 Oscar appearance but I'd be happy to upload those clips to my other channel asap. :)

  • what movie is it at 2:06 please?

  • @loveth31 That's not a movie. It's one of Maggie's 3 guest appearances on The Carol Burnett Show in the 70's. I'll pm you the link. :)

  • I love your video that's great!!!!

  • She's the best there is

  • I love this. Maggie Smith is one of those women who truly grew into her beauty in middle age. She was absolutely stunning at the 1990 Tony Awards. I bought a copy of Lear's magazine about 18 years ago (which I don't even think is published anymore) because there was a beautiful photo of her on the cover and a wonderful article. I still have it!

  • Wonderful video of Maggie Smith. She is indeed a great actress!

  • God! She looks like crap on Parkinson in the 70s...then 20 years later she looks amazing in My House In Umbria, really beautiful like Capucine !
