  • I think what he was saying is that the human psyche has a need if you will, and that in the past epic myths fit in that need. Superman and Captain Kirk are in a way the Hercules and Odysseus for our time.

  • Excellent point, Mr. Shatner! I agree.

  • The problem I think with George was that he was jealous of Bill Shatner way back when the Star Trek show was first running in the 60s. He has carried some sort of a grudge against Shatner all these years.

  • Prior to Star Trek TOS being put together, Shatner and Nimoy bth were in an episode of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." called The Project Strigas Affair... I believe it's available on YouTube... and it also guest starred Werner Klemperer who was best known as Colonel Klink on Hogan's Heroes. And the interesting thing about Werner was that he was playing a German officer because he was Jewish.

  • mr nakamura! :O

  • i miss the original star trek

  • ...Was`nt Takei in "The Green Berets"? oh, dear.

  • Superb!! Thank you!!

  • Shatner finally gets it!

  • Of course we have still myths. We have still religion, just like the ancient Greeks. Only the stories and characters are different but it still explains the world to those who want believe it.

  • George Takei is very eloquent...

  • ST was a venue for those whom do not subscribe to religious mythology to imagine a future which gives us hope. The current situation is far more grim than most dare imagine. Only a fraction of the earths population control the resources. We vote for which puppet we want to address the owners of society. Rothschilds, etc. - (the Federal Reserve).

Star Trek begins after the third world war and builds a resource based economy with an emergent philosophy on technology making space travel possible.
