chrisM33 What a shame, I didn't know that.My cousin used to live next door to him in Wimbledon and wash his Rolls Royce in Bob-a-Job week. He was a lovely man, a fine actor and a very proud Welshman. Richard Burton was a personal friend of his, hence the narration.

@RickTransit Zulu has been my favourite film since I first saw it as a child some 40 years ago. Great stuff.

The empire was quite busy at the time, in Kabul Afghanistan etc another stirring defence but I doubt any movie will be made of it. Chelmsford was a dazzlingly intelligent commander compared with Tony Bliar, who should have known better with all the previous experience of former (and better) men. OK to snipe: there's a lot more numpties per square metre now then they had to answer for incompetence. Now, they go on a chat show and say they were misunderstood. If we won then why all the Zulus here?

The best, most emotional, dramatic action soundtrack music ever. I saw this movie as a small kid (not to mention having seen it again hundreds of times since) and just hearing those notes stirs the blood like nothing else.
RIP John Barry.
