Very sad indeed, I practically grew up in that mall, literally all that is left is Penneys, the stores out front are not even connected to the ''Canton Center'' facility, it is a sad shell of its former self. Once Wards left the end was a virtual certainty.
Very sad to see. I too spent a lot of time at this mall as a kid. I grew up right behind it on Grandview Ave S.W. I can remember as far back as before they added in the Food Court and the 10 cinema theater. Stores like Orange Julious, Baskin Robins and the 2 massive movie theaters built into the mall (way back in the day). Wards closing didn't kill Mellett Mall, Walmart did.

Yes it is sad everything now is about strip malls and walmarts or targets. I remember when Hills Department Stores were open where I live I really like that store. I am not really a walmart fan everything back then you had more store selections to buy from.

Our downtown is dying. We heard that Zellers is going and Target is coming in. Never been to a Target. Sad how things change so quickly in some ways and in others very subtle. Then one day you realize its all gone.
