This was filmed on December 12, 2008 in -5 degree weather. 2 water drain lines for the yag laser froze and the valves on the propane would freeze open. Sorry for the somewhat poor video. Graphics drawn on the left garage door are done by a HeNe/Argon full color laser pair going through 50 micron fiber to a remote scan head. The first projection is a thermometer with the temp dropping. The second are ornaments. Then you see bells ringing. These can be seen fairly well. Near the end, animated multicolor music notes are drawn and finally at the very end, Merry Christmas is spelled out and is color cycled. The show runs in a continuous loop. After this piece ends, the remote scan head projects what station to tune your radio to enjoy the audio from inside your car. It also counts down every minute to let you know exactly when the show will start again. This is all programmed through a Pangolin Lasershow Designer 2000 system. 8 time lines are used for much of the piece. The automated lights are two High End Systems Studio Color 575s and one Studio Spot 575. All are inside of Lightwave Research Ecodomes, so I can leave them out in all weather. High End rocks! Their support is unmatched. Dimmers are my own creation using Hendrik Hölscher's DMX driver board available at http://www.hoelscher-hi.de/hendrik/wahl.htm . A few words about Hendrik - this guy is absolutely awesome. When I first placed an order for his DMX dimmer boards, he realized I was from the US (as he is in Germany). He wrote the firmware for European 50 hz power. The firing angles won't work for 60 hz. He offered to re-write the code for 60 hz gratis. He then emailed it to me for testing. What a great guy! I have built four - 16 channel DMX dimmers for this display plus use another DMX demultiplexer feeding a small 4 channel dimmer. I also use an NSI 4 channel non-dim pack. One of the non-dim channels is used to open the mechanical shutter on the YAG laser. The YAG laser is a 20 watt Laserscope KTP532 z-fold model 501. I have FAA approval to project unterminated beams into space. I must notify Air Traffic control in Minneapolis 1 hour before starting the show and immediately upon ending the show. I thank the FAA for allowing me to do this. These guys are true professionals in keeping airspace safe for pilots. The HeNe is a Spectra physics 107 running about 25 mw and the Argon is an SP162 doing about 100 mw multiline. I use a Neos 8 channel PCAOM for color mixing. It is a 15 watt crystal as I also have an Argon/Krypton SP 168 pair and finally the Grand Poobah of all white light lasers, a Spectra Physics 171 doing nearly 15 watts. I will soon post a behind the scene video of what makes this all work. I must also thank my entire family, my wife and sons helped immensly, especially my son Curtis. He put countless hours of programming into this project.
It's like a TSO concert without going to a TSO concert. :) Did you plan to have the pyrotechnics at the same time TSO does live?

@Ginger498 Indeed. With the number of Christmas lights videos out there, it was time to take it a step further in emulating a TSO experience.

@5chakie Ha ha, funny you should ask... Type in "Willow Springs Haunted Cornmaze" if you want.

Great job, but your neighbors must hate you. And isn't that a traffic hazard? Or are you not close to the road?

@shadowheir1 Thanks. We live in the country, so traffic is fairly minimal.
