Nicole Foss of the Automatic Earth Blog gives very much the same advice. Get out of debt, get liquidity (cash or cash equivalents) and I think most importantly get control over your daily needs (food, water, shelter, heat and the means to grow more food). We stuck most all our money, dollars, into a small farm (including draft animals) in rural SW VA and am watching closely the events unfolding in the Persian Gulf, Europe, Washington, D.C. and New York. What a great time to be alive!

I am afraid that going liquid your cash will be eaten by inflation. It is possible to see 10 -20 even >30% inflation. A %10 to %30 asset move to gold/silver as insurance against inflation is not a bad move. Watch for QE3 that will result in an even further devalued dollar and and even greater chance of inflation in the next few years. Real inflation now is running close to 10% and the numbers going forward look bleak. Your buying power is going bye bye fast ppl.
