This is Jackson. Jax has been diagnosed with hemiplegic spasticity, right side. (a form of cerebral palsy).

We caught it early, and therapy has really helped him retrain his brain to use the hand much more than he used to, but we are still lagging with his leg and foot development. You can see by the video that he has found his own way of getting around instead of crawling traditionally. Jax's is only mildy affected by CP physically. His intellect, speech, vision, and hearing all seem to be normal at this stage. The folks at the Spastic Centre of NSW have been excellent, along with Jax's Dr's. With love, patience, and a lot of hard work.. Jax should be able to have a normal childhood and life.

Cheers.

  • My 14 month old son (Carl) has CP of the right side and uses the same method of getting around. How old is your son now, and how is he doing?

  • He's 20 months now, walking and running like he's been doing it all along. He has between one and two centimeters of difference between his legs, and the spasticity still affects them, so he has a noticable gait, but it hasn't slowed him down at all. Funny thing.. about a month after posting this video, he started crawling relatively normally... God bless your son and you.. it's tough sometimes, but love and patience will go a long way in making his life happy.

  • Great to hear that Oz-Jax is now walking and running. Carl is now 20 months. He has been crawling normally (knees and hands) for 2-3 months now. He has been standing while holding on to things for a while now. He is also cruising a bit now. We hope that he will start walking on his own before 2 years old. What about talking, what does Oz-Jax say? All the best.
