Been going to Indian Lake and Snowy Mountain since I was a boy (starting in 1967). Don't know where you got the 3921' elevation from (GPS?), but Snowy Mountain has always been 3899 feet - it's been burned into my memory since my first visit. Last time I hiked up there (15 years ago), the tower had no steps (we had to crab up to the top on the steel tread edges) and of course no glass. i thought it had been recently restored.

@beeroosterm:
- The elevation was by GPS and was actually taken at the top of the fire tower: hence, the extra 22 feet.
