@Jen9109 It`s Gnosticism , an ancient form of Christianity that focused on enlightenment and spirituality similar to Buddhism rather than repressive , hypocritical dogma and blind faith like The Roman Church . Christianity was influenced by Judaism which was influenced by Zoroastrianism which was influenced by Paganism . So , Christians nowadays are like insolent children screaming at their parents , " Fuck you mom and dad , we know better " !

"This is National Geographic bud, they do their research much more so than I'm sure you do ". NatGeo has come a long way from a period of America photographed. Now they are a clearing house of anti human, catholic apologetic, antithiest evolutionism. For real students, NatGeo falls way, way short of giving any real information on history at all. Its only since the internet that I feel I have learned anything. We have always had ancient info, Natgeo = dammage control.

I believe this is paganism.

@talitakoomi Yes, because telling someone they're possessed by a demon is far better than telling them they have a brain disorder. "eye roll* How about if we quit trying to label and compartmentalize people because they don't roleplay as well as others within the rigid, fear-based, highly judgmental parameters of human society. Most mental illness/possession is a human who is/has been the victim of others...humans are far scarier than any idea of a demon...far more deceptive than demons.

Ahem. Yeshua of Natzeret, a.k.a. "Jesus" , healed people of their infirmities when they were sick, and cast out demons from them when they were possessed. Possession and illness, even mental illness, are NOT the same thing! There are strong and distinct signs of demonic possesion, which most shrinks today misdiagnose because they refuse to believe in demons. MANY would be better served and cured if these docs would learn the signs & get the appropriate help from a deliverance minister/exorcist.
The fact that Jesus chose her.. is already enough for me ...
people were jealous that she was chosen and men didn't like the idea of woman being leaders .. so of course, all elements were present for her to be hated by those who didn't see the light of goodness

I hate to contradict a professor, but 'Magdala' does not mean 'dry fish ville' . It means 'tower'. There were several ancient places called Magdala (or Migdal) including Magdala Nunayya near Tiberias. Only this one was associated with fishes (and may be the fish-salting town to which Josephus gave the Greek name of Tarichaea. )
