Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley talk about Dwight Howard after the finals, and they admit that athleticism isn't the most important in basketball.
It should be a bonus for your skills not the other way around.

Sorry for not the best quality.

  • This is also the same problem Blake Griffin will run into

  • @BlackDynamiteNYC it's possible, but if you watch him play he's got small forward's/shooting guard's moves in a power forward body, in the post he's not that good but he's pretty good beating people off the dribble... which Howard can't do at all

Griffin reminds me young Vince Carter a litlle bit

  • smartest thing kenny has ever said

  • Nowadays, young kids focus on being strong, having a great vertical heap & dunking. I always focus on the centers to make the comparison. Look at nowadays Cs and compare them with the likes of Moses, Kareem, Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing... They were as athletic as nowadays big fellas, if not more; but were FAR more skilled, versatile & unstoppable.

Learn the game, understand it, focus on your skills with the ball, on your footwork, on your court vision, on your basketball IQ FIRST!!!

    .

  • Kenny was talking about Athleticism, Chuck was talking about Ath-a-let-tic-ism

  • excactly what happened with vince carter his athletic ability took him to legendary heights and as soon as he lost it through injury and age plop dude has almost become a joke plays liike a dude who has been in the league for half his time

  • @BlackDynamiteNYC Have you not seen him handle the ball and make passes? I didnt say he was Larry Bird.

  • @loudblazer He's not Larry Bird. His game is speed and power. He can go through you, or over you. He can run the break, but that's not the same as having a half-court game. In the half-court, he still struggles. He's learning the 15-18 footer, but he doesn't have a whole lot else, because he's so physically gifted, he doesn't need a whole lot else.

  • @BlackDynamiteNYC No, not the same. Blakes ability to pass, dribble, and shoot is way beyond Dwight at that age. Blake has already shown he is committed to improving and expanding his game, and has the skill set to do it. Dwight doesnt have the skill set that Blake does.

  • sounds to me like they're talking about Kareem. If you know what I mean.

  • @Mademan281

and to think shaq wants to replace kenny. shaw is nothing but dumb sh!t compared to kenny

  • @reno93535

Dwight Howard doesn't have to lead the league in rebounds/blocks. Maybe ONE player in the NBA is better at rebounding? That isn't a reflection on him. You know he has been Defensive Player of the Year the last 3 years? 13 rebounds a game is A TON of rebounds!

And your marketability has nothing to do with your FG%!

They both have the same problem. A VERY SMALL PROBLEM!

When you are on the top 1% of athletes on Earth, your technique doesn't have to be perfect to dominate
