  • thumbs up if Subaru curiosity got you here...

  • @testdirver i belive it was the OHC on the Subaru's but i think VW finally caught up

  • @testdirver the vw is aircoled and has no ohc.

  • @testdirver ignition timing, red line and cooling + power

  • @testdirver

Very little, fundamentally. They are basically the same. The major differences are cooling, valve drive mechanics, and maybe ignition mechanics (how the spark is delivered to the spark plugs). Another minor issue would be how it's mounted in the vehicle. VW hung the engine off the transmission where as Subaru had it supported via it's own mounts.

  • whats the difference between this and the flat 6 engine porsche uses in its cars?

  • the suby is liquid cooled and the vws are air cooled.....some vw bus engines made from 1983 onward are liquid cooled also....both makes are of a boxer design....some people convert vw busses to suby power.

  • @IfiDieTomoro Do you happen to know the P2W clearance ?

  • @Hondaminican the rings are pressed so hard against the cylinder that there is no way the oil could get by the rings.
