CREATING KARMA is an off-beat romantic comedy about Karma, an uptight Manhattanite assistant fashion editor who loses her job for turning thirty and becomes a poet after moving in with her wacky new-age therapist sister and meeting Mr. Wrong, the owner of the local poets' cafe. This video is the dream sequence that's in the film sung by Karma's step-father, Rajah, a pop sitarist who was her father's partner-in-life. Song and arrangement by Jill Wisoff, production by Joel Diamond. Performed by Roland Sands, Jennifer Lee Mitchell and Riana Hershenfeld. CREATING KARMA was on the festival circuit for two years and is the winner of two best feature comedy awards. It is unrated but is tween and up appropriate. Karen Lynn Gorney (dancing diva co-star of Saturday Night Fever) can be seen in this music video in the role of Chanel, Karma's shopaholic mother. CREATING KARMA is a first time feature by director Jill Wisoff (her songs and score graced the popular WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE) and is © Fantasy Creature Films LLC
Can you believe the actors sang their own parts? I inquired with the director, Jill Wisoff, figuring they must have lip synced to other singers, but she insisted they sang their own parts in the studio. I want those 2 girls from Bangles Magazine (Jennifer Lee Mitchell and Riana Hershenfeld) to sing back-up vocals in my band. Outstanding! If you like the comedy of Mel Brooks, Dumb and Dumber, etc. you'll surely like this movie.
