Springfield officials and state employee unions filed a lawsuit in Sangamon County on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, to stop Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration from moving the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety from Springfield to southeastern Illinois. Here are clips from the news conference announcing the lawsuit.
Central and northern Illinois has for years gotten the good jobs and higher wages while southern Illinois has gotten nothing. The bottom counties of Randolph,Perry,Franklin,Hamilton,White,Galatin,Saline,Williamson,Jackson,Union,Johnson,Pope,Hardin,Massac,Pulaski and Particulary Alexander have been cheated for far too long and need to separate from the rest of the state. Egypt should be a state. Coal, two mighty rivers, farming, the Shawnee national forest could easily take care of our people.
