I may have worked it out actually. Did you follow this tutorial from scratch? or did you apply the same principle to a much larger canvas size you were already working on?. The gradient seems to flip if the canvas is too large. In this tutorial , the canvas is actually quite small and this is probably why the "difference clouds" filter works. I was constantly getting the flip and after many attempts, I decided to follow the actual tutorial. I noticed it straight away. Give it a go!

@juancogol nah i didnt... i stopped trying to mess with it to be honest.
im gonna go buy a photoshop book here in about a month... if i find anything out, ill get back to you

How come when i click difference clouds, it just flips the gradient?

I found out how to put it in to your pictures check my channel on January,1,2011

@ShawnPaw100 you can use blending options for that. use screen for this one. just put the lightning picture on top of another picture and set it to screen
