this is a review of a carvin mts that i rescued from a used gear store, this review is with the original (sucky)Sovtek 5881 power tubes and no name preamp tubes still installed, this review shows that the amp has been visually altered (in a bad way) i will be releasing another review with the newly installed groove tubes, and show the amps new cosmetic makeover as well, but until then enjoy

  • thanks for the review it helped! I just picked one up, way to good of a deal for the tone and money-

  • @TheHarmonicPulse cool, hope you enjoy the amp

  • I have an opportunity to trade an Ibanez rg 770 for one of these heads.

Do you think that's a fair deal? I'm not sure what the pricing is on these heads.

    Thanks!

  • @blindchicken2001 what year is the guitar? if it is a 80's to early 90's era Japanese made ibanez in good condition i would definately keep it, but other than that i would trade it especially if it is one of the newer non prestige level gutars

  • @blindchicken2001 why the heck would you ever get rid of an RG770? I could have 3,000,000 RG770s and i'd still never get rid of one. I would take a bath in them, and make love to all all of them at the same time... plus in good condition they are worth $700+. But, if you're happy then who am i to stop you?

  • @jazarstevens mine was very mushy at stage volumes, but a tube change to better tubes seriously improved my tone, did not totally eliminate the problem, but made it more manageable

  • @HolyDio666 i had a MTS for a couple years and i had the same problem, at high (lots of gain) volumes the amp seemed to turn into mush with a serious loss of clarity and punch. and that was through a 4x12 with V30's. great for the bedroom/basement, not so great for the stage.

  • @blindchicken2001 they were 600 dollars new, when they were available

  • 5:40 STARTS DA METALLLL!!!

  • @gobigjeff funny story but that room was an add on to the house so i was looking into the living room checking on my kids
