Sure you're listen to the right band mate. Check out Sisters of Mercy. Convinced that's where Editors draw a bit of influence. Can't relate to early U2 though. May be I've missed something.

I definatelly hear hear old U2 sounds in here, think new wave is coming back, just two guitars bass drums and vocals, it's just great, i love it, the view, editors, interpol, but to me something different as in sonic youth, woow that did it for me on lowlands this year (2007)

I see more of a Echo and the Bunnymen, Kitchens of Distinction, or Sad Lovers and Giants influence rather than Joy Division. Anyway, I think these guys are great.

sound is NOT of direct influence, its often how it comes together, Interpol is less so of Joy Division than many think, neither are majorly influenced by joy division, it only accounts for a minority of the style they have.
