double tap? the whole thing is a button, I think its a great idea - seeing as I thought of it myself years ago, but still
-
well there's a new chip set for all of the computer, including hybrid SLI in the MacBook Pro.
-
cool man
-
they didnt put a blu-ray player in it because of licensing, so apple says. It would of also made the price higher and I think apple wants people to be buying HD movies from itunes instead of buying a blu-ray movie.
-
your right it does

YOUR HAIR IS GROWING BACK!?!?!?! Almost Time To Shave It again! lol -privatename

it has a mouse button
-
yeah I know thats why I took back what I said
-
From the looks of the demo vid you don't touch to click. Literally the whole track pad is the button. Like yes the whole thing depresses to click. It is not the touch click feature that we all hate.
-
I guess I take that back after seeing the end of the keynote and how it actually works. Where you do actually still click by pressing any part of the trackpad down. Its not clicking by tapping the trackpad as they have done in the older laptops with trackpads. So I end my rant here and take back what I said. Well done apple.
-
I would not be able to use a laptop that does not have a mouse button. I have tried several times to turn on the feature to click with the trackpad on my macbook but I always find myself dragging things and clicking on things I don't want. It makes it a pain and is really annoying when that happens. There is no way I would be able to easily use one of those machines. I love apple but I hate it when they take away functional things from their computers, and in their OS as well. :(
-
I guess they could if they really wanted to. But, look at any laptop under say $800 and if you look hard enough and you know computers you will be able to see where they skimped on quality. The MOBO, HDD, screen, RAM, OS. Something has to suffer to get the price down.
I don't think Apple wants to put out that kind of quality.
-
I wanted to see something spectacular and I was hoping that these would now come with 4G of RAM. I think it's great that they upgraded the video card but they came out short by not giving up more RAM or having a lower price. I think it's probably easier for Sony to have bluray in their laptops but more difficult for Apple to license at this point and make it affordable.
-
The thing is its like i can get a laptop with the power of the macbook pro (if not better) for like less then the price of the BASIC macbook- atleast both the laptop and power brick wont get as hot (apple users know what i am talking about). ehh.. what else can i say, its Apple :P On a slightly unrelating issue, have you tried buying a mac from aus as compared to america, keeping in mind currency exchange rates it's still a bitch of a mark up.
-End rant :)
-
come on- i mean a bluray player in the mac? They are expensive as it is. The thing is hardware wise besides the apparent sleek and cool look they are pretty average on the inside made with some pretty low grade parts. The only thing is that apples OS does not need that much power to run smoothly and given that they know what hardware is going to be running they are not likely to face as many problems as other vendors. Software wise (besides lack of gaming) it is far superior than MS vista.
-
I thin that because this is the first if its kind and all that planning and design went into in it should be a little expensive but i think that over the next 5- 8 months the prices should drop or not drop but become much faster or more expandable. I still can't believe they did 't add a fire wire to it. Anyway do you think i should get one or wait a while. ( I've always wanted a smaller more portable laptop so i don't have to take my macbook pro everywhere)
-
i cant afford it
if it was at 1000 i could afford it but not
-
lol, both, mostly can't.
no, its a physical button (the trackpad). for instance, if you click it, it will push down.

Ya, someone else said the same thing. I shot this video before the keynotes were released. After watching the keynotes, I realized how it works.

If Apple dropped their prices down to the $500-600 range their quality would be the same as Dell or HP. I think you get what you pay for.
No offense, but if you only have $500 to spend on a laptop maybe you should buy a PC from wal-mart. They have like 6 different ones all under $800.
Its kind of like saying you wish BMW would come down to the same price level as KIA.

I'm saying that Apple should tap into the "common" market. If the 4 companies it takes to build 1 PC make money selling it at $500, you can't tell me Apple, working with proprietary parts wouldn't profit.

A "good" PC notebook will set you back $850-$1,000. The Macbook starts at $999. That is their common notebook computer.
If you will check out Dells website their bottom of the line XPS1330 with 13.3"screen also starts at $999.
This is the same market.
While I see what you are saying, I don't think apple has ever wanted to appeal to the lower end market.

Ehh.. Ipod Shuffle, Ipod Nano, Iphone 3g for $200? I also see what your saying, but Apple went there with the ipods, why not computers?
