Maura Harrington goes on hunger strike in Glengad, Co. Mayo, to protest against the arrival of the Solitare (a large pipe-laying vessel) and to further highlight the local 'Shell To Sea' campaign. This interview is filmed on day three of her hunger strike.

Jugg its just a disgrace what happened poor Pat O'Donnells piece of shit boat with the mysterious masked men wearing full diving gear boarding it for 2 hours before sinking it. How lucky though that his brother just happened to be in the area that night and that he had a life boat on board !! Poor poor unfortunate guy. Its unfair to discount the whole Shell to Sea campaign on account of the opinion of one woman, everyone should see the movie, 'The Pipe', highlighting the struggle of the community and the oppression they were subjected to while they protected their homes and land, and the lack of support from the local authorities. Shell paid bribes to the police in Belmullet.they have their own private security armed and dangerous at all times.They of course sank pat o donnells boat im suprised they hadnt put him in it when it sank.the locals are being bullied about by shell and it happens all around the world.politicans in the area backed shell.Geesala boxing club got some money of them via gerry coyle.Maura Harrington has more balls than most men around that area,fair play to you maura

Well as you know, An bord Pleanala have not given Shell the go ahead to run their pipeline over the remaining 7km of unstable bogland, so minor victory it may be, but thanks to Maura and dedicated campaingers they will have to rethink the route.
