@spurtfather long story - it was banned in the 1920's - by the 1970's it was thought that it was not addictive (??!!) so it was thought to be safer then pot - how wrong we were

Scott Thomas Lowe & Atascadero were a late 1970s - early 1980 proto-alternative rock/blues band that included, as performers at one time or another, Dewey Martin (Buffalo Springfield), Jim Fielder (Buffalo Springfield/Mothers of Invention/Blood Sweat & Tears) and Luther Rabb & Ronnie Hammon (both of WAR), as well as future members of early L.A punk band Benedict Arnold & The Traitors and neo-psychedelic band The Hundredth Monkey.
