OOoh tell me about it! I had to give kudos to the GOP this weekend for pushing nuclear energy. There're like 34 applications for new plants that are collecting dust at the NRC.

Nice how you left out the fact that the President wants to tie the Making Work Pay tax credit to any Cap & Trade legislation to help offset (though not eliminate) a rise in energy costs. I'll also note that numbers being propagated by the Republican Party about the costs to the end-user have been exaggerated; something they've been called out on on the floor of the congress.
I'll invite you to view a video on my channel titled "The Anglə 'On Keeping Them Honest'" for more information.

I'll view you video in a minute but in the one I watched, what President Obama says about skyrocketing electricity rate increases is the same thing the Kentucky Energy Cabinet is saying about our electric rates in Kentucky.
My Governor, as am I, are Democrats. The Kentucky Energy Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Secretary are appointed by a Kentucky Democratic administration. I was told by one of them that we (Kentucky) can expect a 300% increase in our electricity rates.

I don't know how the make work pay tax credit will offset our huge electric increase. Why pay one amount and try and offset it somewhere else. Why not bypass the middle man and not make CPA's rich trying to figure it out. Just take the tax offset from the federal government to industry. It would remove tons of paperwork for us, the rate payers.

Can we honestly expect the government to do anything in a way that makes sense? ;-)
There are still a lot of questions to be answered about this. I'm kind of on the fence still about what solution we should go with but I do think we need to do something.
I recently favorited another video about emissions trading in Europe that was interesting but I'm trying to keep my mind open to other ideas.

There is not ONE solution to our CO2 problem. There are many. Algae, Hydrogen, Hydro, wind, nuclear, solar, biofuels, Wave. All these by themselves solve nothing, but together add up to a significant impact helping our environment.
We need to quit studying and making researchers and their companies rich, we need to start doing brick and motar projects.
Just think what could have been accomplished with the billions given to save a few favored companies?
