I've always had a lot of time for Lindsay Tanner, however some of his comments here are pretty misguided. I live in Melbourne and I would have voted ALP once, but they failed the country on climate change, they failed asylum seekers seeking basic human rights, they failed gays on same-sex marriage and they simply do not represent me anymore. That's not cannibalisation of ALP votes, that's a collapse in popular support and Tanner should know better than to trot out such misdirected propaganda.

Hi I'm Lindsay Tanner and I don't really know what I'm talking about.
-
I'm voting Greens!
-
I'd love to see a Labor/Green coalition in government
-
Who knows, maybe in a generation we can look back to this election to see when we finally began to make a change for the better.
2010 is looking very Green indeed!
-
what has this so called progressive , Linday Tanner actually achieved by jumping in bed with the increasingly Right wing Liberal Lite Labour party?
This year i'm voting for change - vote Green!
-
Lindsay Tanner's supposed to be so progressive but what's he done? Not only does he have no power, he has no voice on issues like climate change, refugees, gay marriage etc. He's been silenced by the Labor party machine. Me and most of my friends will vote Green in the lower house this year.

Lindsay complains that the Greens are a threat in his seat is because of Coalition preferences. What about the number of ALP MPs who got through at the last election because of Green preference?
-
Labor does not represent the centre left and left wing of the political spectrum anymore, they have followed the liberals all the way to right over issues such as lack of action on climate change, opposition to gay marriage, tough stance on asylum seekers, censoring the internet through their internet filter amongst other things
Indeed, Tanner should be awfully careful about disparaging a party that relies on preferences when the ALP primary vote is less than 40%.
