    Not really, but I have done literary criticism / literary theory and slowly became more cynical about it. I thought what you said about them being pivotal / important was interesting. And also I do like some authors that influenced criticism... e..g Foucault, your compatriot Gramsci .

    However I feel interpretation and criticism is just done for the sake of it sometimes. It feels meaningless. I would much rather just enjoy a book / film than make up strange "interpretations" about it.
