IMO, server-to-server travel would need an 8-chevron address.

fuck kleiner's teleporter. I can now go from eli's lab map to black mesa east map by STARGATE! Hell yeah. :D

@Kristiants1 On a flatgrass map, you'd have one in the middle that serves as the server's default and is the one that server's 9-chevron address will dial into, but it can also be dialed 7-chevron from other gates already in the map. As for the gates in the corners, they'd just be 7-chevron because they're in the same map. Depending on the setting, either all of the gates, just the corners or just the center one would have 8-chevron addresses for multi-map dials.

@smatteringofapplause Hmmm... I see what you're saying! Ok, that makes sense! About the multi-map server, I didn't know that was what they were called, even though I play on them frequently. Yeah, you could have a gate on each map, and then you could dial them!... WAIT! What about regular servers? Like a flatgrass server? Would there only be 1 gate with a 9-chevron address, or maybe one gate at each corner with an 8-chevron address and then one in the middle for dialing in and out of the server?

@Kristiants1 Actually, a nine-chevron dial is just used to dial EXTREME distances. The only reason it only goes to Destiny is because it's the only 9-chevron-dial-capable gate out that far. So, when you adapt the system for use in the game, it makes sense to have it dial to another server instead. As for multi-map servers, I think it'll start becoming a popular thing. Each server runs more than one map, one where you spawn, the others accessible via console or gates. Minecraft already does this.

@smatteringofapplause Umm, 9th chevron=Destiny? I'm confused about the "dial between maps in a multi-map server" What does that mean???
-
@Kristiants1 Why should the map make a difference?
Instead, an 8-chevron dial would be used to dial between maps in a multi-map server (something that's bound to become popular) and a 9-chevron dial between servers entirely.

@DracoEX I agree COMPLETELY!!! :D *dials other server* You guys are a**h***s!*steps into stargate* ( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH( )WOOSH()*steps out, window pops up* Window:"Nobody here is an a**h***! Have fun and enjoy your stay on our server!" WOOOOOOOOO!!!

@smatteringofapplause What I was thinking was Galaxy=Server, so if the 8th chevron dials another galaxy, than it would dial another server. For the 9th chevron, it would dial oh, i don't know, maybe a SERVER RUNNING A DESTINY MAP!?!?!?!?!?!? HOW FUCKING COOL WOULD THAT BE!!!!!!!!!^.^
I wouldn't mind a loading screen as long as its an animated wormhole.

The traveller never sees the wormhole.
Regarding what you said, it's impossible on Garry's Mod.

@idan111 People don't fall from 1,000+ feet and only loose 10 hp either! :P Instead of the Loading Server screen or whatever the hell it is, the wormhole could be an overlay? I don't do coding, so I wouldn't know how to do it...

@Kristiants1
It's possible now, with the loading screen allowing servers to put HTML pages on top of it.
