ZHANG:
NTD's final two competitions for the year kicked off down near New Yorks Central Park yesterday. The International Chinese Photography and Oil Painting Competitions drew competitors from 28 regions. Lets take a closer look.

STORY:
NTDs International Chinese Photography Competition and Chinese International Figure Painting Competition have drawn entries from around the world.

And the exhibition of these works opened at the Ukrainian Institute of America in Manhattan, New York yesterday.

More than 180 artists submitted paintings. And the photography competition received tens of thousands of entries.

[Dai Bing, Photography Judge]:
Our judgment of this competition is different from other competitions in society. We want the entries style to capture pure beauty, pure compassion.

The photos fall within four categories, society and humanity, nature and landscapes, architecture and views, and people and portraits.

This Taiwanese man traveled to a fishing village called Sha Pu in Chinas Fujian Province and waited from 4 a.m. for the perfect moment when the sun would turn the bay water red.

[Zhuo Qiu Chi, Taiwanese Contestant]:
I am retired now with no other hobbies. So I take this chance to tour around the world to see beautiful scenery.

The oil painting competition asked artists to depict traditional Chinese values using Western techniques.

These final two competitions draw NTDs global competition series to an end for the year.

[Lee Juan, NTD Competitions Coordinator]:
For NTD television we want to bring the culture back. To let people know what is beautiful. What is truthful, beautiful?

And what will the artist with the top painting take home?

[Lee Juan, NTD Competitions Coordinator]:
Thats a bigfor the first one its $10,000.

The exhibition is free to the public from noon tomorrow and held at the Ukrainian Institute of America in Manhattan, New York. The award ceremony will start at 6 p.m.
