***********
The Catechism of the Catholic Church:

963 ... "The Virgin Mary . . . is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and of the redeemer.... She is 'clearly the mother of the members of Christ' . . . since she has by her charity joined in bringing about the birth of believers in the Church, who are members of its head." "Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church."

I. MARY'S MOTHERHOOD WITH REGARD TO THE CHURCH

Wholly united with her Son . . .

964 Mary's role in the Church is inseparable from her union with Christ and flows directly from it. "This union of the mother with the Son in the work of salvation is made manifest from the time of Christ's virginal conception up to his death"; it is made manifest above all at the hour of his Passion:

Thus the Blessed Virgin advanced in her pilgrimage of faith, and faithfully persevered in her union with her Son unto the cross. There she stood, in keeping with the divine plan, enduring with her only begotten Son the intensity of his suffering, joining herself with his sacrifice in her mother's heart, and lovingly consenting to the immolation of this victim, born of her: to be given, by the same Christ Jesus dying on the cross, as a mother to his disciple, with these words: "Woman, behold your son."

965 After her Son's Ascension, Mary "aided the beginnings of the Church by her prayers." In her association with the apostles and several women, "we also see Mary by her prayers imploring the gift of the Spirit, who had already overshadowed her in the Annunciation."

  • If Mary was sinless, why did she need a savior?

  • @whiteclaudia9 She was born without original sin on account of God granting her that special priviledge. It was not something that she accomplished on her own; it was the will of God. Therefore, He still is her savior.

  • If I had the power of God to save my mother from sin before she was born, I would, too. Jesus Christ truly is Mary's Lord and Savior because He saved her before any of us.

Any person who bore God in them for a split second let alone 9 months would undoubtedly never want or need another man inside them.

The physical bond between Mary and Jesus for those 9 months was an unbreakable spiritual bond.

Mary never consummated her love with Joseph because her love for her Son was infinitely greater.

  • @SuperIsaac50 The Catholic Church did not add 7 books to the Bible, other religions that branched off of the Catholic Church took AWAY those books because they didn't like what they said. I'm sorry if that sounds kind of terrible, but it's what happened.

  • If Jesus is our Brother, and Mary is His Mother... doesn't that make us her children as well?

We don't pray TO Mary and the Saints, we pray THROUGH them, exactly like I would ask you to pray for me. But it makes more sense to ask Mary and the Saints to pray for us since they're IN HEAVEN, as close to God as they can possibly get.

  • If none of this is true- then why has Mary's intercession never failed anyone who has sincerley sought her help? Why did 3 children see visions of Mary in Fatima Portugal and thousands saw the miracle of the sun dancing, the sky changing into different colors, converting many nonbelievers to Christianity? Why have some of the holiest people in the world been devoted to the Blessed Mother? Why is the Rosary such a powerful prayer?

Because Mary leads us ever closer to Jesus.

  • The belief that Mary is an advocate before the Father is yet another man-made tradition, not supported by Scripture. Moreover, the Bible defies Catholic doctrine by declaring that Jesus, not Mary, is the only Advocate:

"...if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" 1 John 2:1

  • Mary's biological connection to Jesus is not important to God. What is important is our obedience to God's will.

"As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Lk. 11:27-28)

  • In heaven, Jesus' mother is not just Mary but everyone who keeps God's commandments.

"Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mk. 3:35)

  • Mary admits that she is a sinner, in need of a Savior--1:04
