Kids are forced to go to school -- instead of choosing what they want to learn and how to define success by themselves has not changed over the years. If we teach emotional intelligence and divergent thinking today, that still means we are telling kids to learn things that are not necessary relevant to them -- let them be and explore their choices in life and how to relate to people can clarify much more about one's success than schooling.
this is wonderful

In public school, 50 years ago, we experienced music, art, play, sports, drama, books, math, science, history, geography, tools like multiplication tables and phonics, discipline, and the playground where you experimented with making friends and dealing with emotions in different ways.
Then came the bottom line and cuts. Censorship and helicopter parents. New math to sell new books until Back to Basics. And this guy.
Who lets me define success as sitting in the basement watching TV by myself.

It's ironic that we Americans say we want to be innovative and even competitive, but the school system doesn't foster innovative, out of the box thinking and now we've started group cooperative learning, the opposite of competition.

I'm talking to congress about abolishing the forced education law. Maybe you can support me.
