It's hard to understand why people say that elves and hobbits are so creative when monkeys are about fifty times more interesting. Look at it, it's some completely humanoid creature that isn't human. There are tarsiers that look like Gizmo from Gremlins too. But, they are a lot of work. That's what I think Gremlins is about: raising a pet monkey and societies hang ups about it.
