Clay man dies after being tasered
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Monday night Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies and Clay police were called to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex. They said Christopher Jackson was screaming and punching walls in the hallway. They said he eventually started yelling at a Clay officer and became aggressive.




"One officer, our officer was being threatened by the fellow that they had to use the Taser on," said Clay Town Public Safety Commissioner Owen Honors.



Police said Jackson was conscious and breathing after being tased, but later went into cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital.




Honors said the force was necessary and he's standing by his officer. He said Clay Police receive in-depth training on Taser use.
"It's a tool, it's supposedly a non-lethal tool and it's a has a pretty good reputation so far. I don't know, whatever the investigation produces we'll decide what we're going to do down the line," said Honors.



Both the Sheriff's office and Onondaga County District Attorney are now reviewing the death. Honors said he's not jumping to conclusions before the autopsy results are in.




"Certainly, it raises questions, but until we've got some scientific answers, we're not going to be able to answer any of the questions," said Honors.




The officer who tased Jackson has been put on administrative leave. The name of the officer has not been released.

that is right. I forced this guy to break the law, resist arrest, and I am the one who tased him. I put a gun to his head and forced him to abuse his body to the point where he had a heart condition and then a heart attack. You are right it is all my fault. Your logic is flawless.

If he had died a few hours after eating at McDonalds, would you be saying that it was a Big Mac that killed him?

He went into cardiac arrest "later". That means that it didn't happen when he was being tasered. If the stress from the tasing eventually caused a heart attack just imagine what the stress from being forcibly subdued, pepper sprayed, cuffed, and tossed into a padded cell for being non compliant would have done to him. He would have checked out no matter what. Tasers don't kill. They save lives.
