This is the Advanced Design Concept(one of 2 concepts) shown by pioneer at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January of 2008. It is a 50" full 1080p HD display showing a picture quality on par with the current production models offered by pioneer. It measures 9mm thick at the frame and 24mm at its thickest in the back, and it weighs in at 41 lbs.

  • I was so excited after I read all these reviews, so I bought Pioneer KURO PDP-LX5090(50inch) a month ago,but ended up very disappointed. It has been a nightmare for me, frequently within each hour the television message SD05 (internal protection circuit turns the system off. check the speaker cable connections).

  • Did you purchase this set new? I'd contact the retailer you bought it from if service is unable to help you. I'm not very familiar with non US models, but this should not be happening in any case, something is wrong with your set. Pioneer service should be able to arrange for repairs if the retailer cannot.

  • is this pioneer kuro PRO-111FD ?

  • No, its a concept model, there is no model # for it. This concept is 9mm thick, the PRO-111 is about 93mm thick

  • Is this better than CRT TVs?

  • In terms of clarity and noise filtering and connectivity yes, but crt's still have better black levels than plasma. Pioneer had a 2nd concept model on display which had zero luminance at Idle, so a pure black while on. That picture quality far surpassed crt.

Yes it is. Although the Sony XBR 960 CRT beats the Pioneer Elite Kuros.

  • @Chinaheartforever did you get this problem solved my friend ? what was it?

  • at 41 lbs someone got grab it and run really fast with it.. !

  • ones a LCD, the other is a Plasma.. depends on what it'll be mainly used for..

As far as I go, Plasma is the best way to go, mainly for movies, but great for games, (no motion blur). The Pioneer plasmas have the BEST blacks.. So if your gonna get a Plasma, might as well go with the best.. You'll understand how important the color black is once you get stuck w/ a LCD <_<.. i know I did

  • Having checked each cable and removed them all together the problem code still appears after a short break. There is also a problem with the volume level which is much too low. Having requested the pioneer engineer for assistance the reply was, we don't know the answer and no one has visited or offered any assistance yet.

  • this really look amazing tho i have tryed to find out when it will be out.. any one know when? some point in 2009?

  • i just got my chatcam working!!! msg me on msn me jane21dame l

  • lol
